Discovery stage

The Discovery stage is a fundamental stage in the project as the information and analysis will underpin the design, priorities and planning for the project. Discovery is structured around a series of workshops and interviews with all major business stakeholders. This process aims to gain an understanding of existing infrastructure systems, IT processes, business processes and requirements (business functional and non-functional), identify dependencies and priorities.

Deliverables

  1. High level Project Plan and re-assessment of work effort required
  2. Client presentation

Design stage

The requirements gathered during the Discovery stage are reviewed and used to construct the High Level and Low-Level Design documents. The design documents will specify how the solution will be implemented including both architecture and key configuration elements. The purpose of the design documents is to provide a clear understanding of what the solution will look like once it has been implemented.

Deliverables

  1. Solution Design
  2. Detailed Design
  3. Revised project plan

Customize stage

The Customize stage combines the installation of the software components with the solution configuration, including the creation of any customized policies and scripts. The Customize stage tasks build and configure the solution within the client’s Development and Test environments. The solution will be configured with the appropriate authoritative source and integration with the target systems in scope. This stage also incorporates System Testing and User Acceptance Testing. The System Testing ensures that all the solution components work well together, containing the necessary functions and meeting the technical and business requirements of the solution.

  1. Solution installed in Dev & Test environments
  2. Target system connectors configured in Dev & Test environments
  3. Updated requirements and high level solution design document (if required)
  4. Updated project plan (if required)

Deploy stage

The purpose of the Deploy stage is to produce a successful release of the solution and transition into a production environment, ready for use. This includes installing the solution into the production environment, performing all necessary transports and validation tasks, and providing knowledge transfer to the client’s IT Operations and IT Support teams.

  1. Solution components installed and configured in Production

Support stage

The Support stage is primarily aimed at providing a level of assurance while the client’s project and operations teams become familiar with using and managing the solution. We advocate an enablement approach to ensure the internal operations team gets up to speed quickly. The post-implementation Support stage can be tailored to the clients’ needs.
